About the Hospital
You’ll be working in the city of Adelaide, at a small private Emergency Department. Note that in Australia around half of the population has insurance, and it’s common to attend a fee-for-service emergency department.
The Emergency Department is located near a large tertiary public hospital.
Wait times are averaged at 4-20 minutes per patient (not 4 hours!), and the doctor team is supported by nursing and specialist staff.
The site is also doctor-owned and run.

Rota & Support
The rota is a little unusual… you will do 10 night shifts per month.
You’ll need to be comfortable working nights.
The rest of the days are off, with no on calls – when you are off, you are off.
You will be supported throughout, with a Consultant-grade doctor available on call as needed.


Pay & Perks
You will be paid A$1700 per shift, equal to around £850 at current exchange rates.
For 10 shifts per month, that gives a gross salary of A$204,000 per year, equal to around £102,000 at current exchange rates.
You will also get support with visa and medical council registration.
If you want to increase your income further, there are extra shifts available including some days 10am to 5pm.


Start Date
The hospital is looking for someone to start around mid 2025, although there is some flexibility in this. You must be willing to commit for a 12 month period, but can of course return home if there was an emergencies or unexpected circumstances


Eligibility
To be eligible for this role, you must:
πŸ‘‰ You must be registered with the GMC with full license to practice
πŸ‘‰ Currently be working at an F4+ level or equivalent
πŸ‘‰ Have significant A&E experience post-Foundation training, which can be from locum work, Trust Grade or fellowships.
πŸ‘‰ In order to be eligible to work in Australia, if you went to a non-UK medical school you must have completed PLAB and worked in the UK for at least 12 months.
